Teddy P died Wednesday at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Philadelphia. He was 59.
Teddy Pendergrass II , his son, said his father underwent colon cancer surgery eight months ago and had “a difficult recovery,”.
“To all his fans who loved his music, thank you,” his son said. “He will live on through his music.”
Teddy Pendergrass made classic hits such as “Love T.K.O.,” “Close the Door” and “I Don’t Love You Anymore,” and he defined a new era of black male singers.
I’m expecting a few stations will be playing Teddy P in the next few days, most likely until Monday.
If you aren’t familiar with Teddy Pendergrass, here are a few songs for you.
RIP Teddy Pendergrass.
