As a kid from the suburbs, Al Viz was given his first mixtape at age six, he instantly became infatuated with the art of spoken word over pounding drums. When kids his age were listening to Michael Jackson he was listening to Eric B. and Rakim.
The mixtape given to him contained all kinds of music ranging from Debbie Deb, Beach Boys, Kool Moe Dee and Roxanne Shante. It was the latter that made an impact on him and planted the seed for what has been culminating all the way up until today.
