So being a new member to The Come Up Show Team I feel that I have a lot of good music, whether new or old, that I’ve discovered over the past 4-5 years being a blog looker & music collector. With that being said I also feel the need to show people (you guys) these artists, songs, mixtapes, etc. Something you may not know about me yet (because I’m new of course) is that I LOVE INSTRUMENTALS. Whether its an album, a single, an ep….if that beat I hear is dope then I want its instrumental. Now I recently came up with the idea to showcase specific producers….one artist a week, each day a new piece of material by that artist. Sounds good? Great.
First off….Damu The Fudgemunk
Originally from Washington, DC, Damu’s style of hip hop its usually straight sample based with the dirtiest sounding but clean-cut drum loops. He releases instrumental projects by himself but is also 1\2 of the group Y Society & 1\3 of the group Panacea where both include MC acts. I remember discovering Damu while Youtubing stuff for my MPC 500. I came across one of his videos where he was just playing beats off his MPC in the park. I was instantly drawn to his ‘boom bap’ hip hop style and was on the search to find more material. The track above is off his upcoming instrumental album “How It Should Sound Vol.1 & 2”.
