[Music] Tanika Charles aka Mz. Chawls- Silly Happy Wild

Tanika Charles aka Miz Chawls is someone you spot from across a room with her vibrant energy and humor. Her charm and charisma is undeniable, and when she opens her mouth to sing, it’s no surprise that one is completely carried away by her voice.

As if from another time, back when songs were written to strike that nostalgic chord, her melodies are reminiscent of classics. With influences like Stevie wonder, Quincy Jones, Chaka Khan, Bob James and Nina Simone, She portrays an authentic, ageless songstress with an old soul, and manages to win the hearts of all generations. Tanika Charles was born in Toronto, Ontario. Her dad being in the oil industry relocated the family to Edmonton, Alberta when she was four years old. A child of the Arts, she chose to work in the clothing industry as a visual merchandiser and designer, all the while honing her skills very quietly.

Miz Chawls has been writing and singing since childhood, but never made it her career until quite recently. In the spring of 2007 she decided to move to Toronto and what she accomplished, within six months, is astonishing. Immediately upon arriving she jumped onto a stage, opening for The Roots with Zaki Ibrahim. Soon after, was a part of a UK and Canadian tour with Bedouin Soundclash and has since participated in two of Toronto’s largest urban music festivals, Luminato and Manifesto and most recently opened for Estelle from the UK. Miz Chawls is now getting set to embark on her first solo recording project.

Her project will be surrounded by a strong team of inspiring artists as well as support from Districtsix Music Management.

With all of her talents and energy, there is no question that this unbelievable artist will be able to represent Canada and take the world by storm.
