I’m really not feeling the designation “femcee.” It rubs me the wrong way, in the same wrong way that “Canadian Rapper” does. But lady emcee Akua Naru and her clique seem down with calling this smooth voiced emcee by that gendered categorization, as you’ll see in the acompanying visuals for “The World Is Listening”, a single for her forthcoming record The Journey Aflame (Jarkarta Music) after the jump.
“The World Is Listening” is an ode to female emcees, offering a timely historical re-cap for those who have conveniently forgotten about all the ladies who have paved the way for Pink Friday. On that note, it may be of (trivial and even meaningless) interest to point out that Minaj doesn’t make Naru’s tribute list. “The World is Listening” features nice production from the cheery German production duo JR & PH7, whom we have previously showcased here on The Come Up Show.
