Welcome to the first ever Sneakers Corner post on The Come Up Show. Today being Saturday and most new shoes drop on this day we decided that we’re gonna aim to have this post EVERY Saturday from now on. Why? Well for those of you who don’t know me, I work at Foot Locker full time so about 1/3rd of my day is influenced by shoes and of course 100% of my day is hip hop. Hip-Hop & Sneaks are already a pair of things that have found love in one another. Hip Hop (in it’s early days and now re-emergence) was all about being the freshest MC on the mic and you couldn’t be a good MC if you didn’t have the right threads and kicks to go with it. Run-DMC’s classic track “My Adidas” was groundbreaking for the people who didn’t have style, they now knew what to rock and how to rock it correctly. Fashion & Sneaker based songs have been around as long as I can remember and we all can relate kicks to hip hop music. The nicest, coolest, most amazing (and most expensive) shoes to ever grace the feet of anyone will be showcased here. Jordan, Nike, Adidas, Converse, Nike SB, Supra’s, Air Max’s, Kobe’s, Lebron’s, etc, etc anything and everything all across the board and hopefully on our feet sometime (even in our dreams). Welcome to Sneakers Corner.
The Retro Version of the shoe that first featured the ‘Jumpman’ dropped 4 weeks ago today in your local sneaker shop. The closest colourway to the OG release features high grade synthetic leather on the upper, lovely cement grey on the toe and heel, the red Jumpman on the tongue and the classic III sole with air in the heel. This Retro comes with a throwback cement grey/black/red box that adds some hype to the purchase. I’m picking up mine today from work and I also got the matching “Good Things Come In Threes” T-Shirt that accents the kicks oh so nicely. The shoes retail for 189.99 and the shirt for 34.99
7 days from now (Feb. 26th) the Jordan Playoff XIII’s drop. Black/Varsity Red/White/Yellow (only a dash of yellow on the tongue) these were worn during MJ while he lead the Chicago Bulls to a 62-win season. He also captured his sixth NBA Championship (while earning the MVP trifecta), Michael Jordan capped off a legendary Bulls career going out on top – again. But the 1997-98 NBA season was a milestone era for Michael off the court as well, as Jordan Brand branched off from Nike and became its own independent brand. (Sneakernews)
Also this month the Grade School/Girls XIII also dropped in White, Grey, & Pink on the sole to accent everything nicely.
These ^ run for $199.99 while the womens retail for $139.99. I personally got the previous White/Red’s that came out back in January but the Playoff XIII’s were the first pair of Jordans I ever owned as a kid so this Retro release is a pretty big deal to me. Next Saturday can’t come soon enough and you best believe these will be sitting in the box for weeks, if not months to come.
I decided to stick with the III’s and XIII’s in this post as they are definitely the top Jordan’s to come out over the past 4-5 week period. Next Sneakers Corner you can expect an array of shoes from the Statue of Liberty Dunks, the Air Jordan 2011’s and also some of the All Star releases that are popping up this weekend!
