The Saskatoon-born, Toronto-based rapper/producer Muneshine recently dropped his latest album offering, There Is Only Today. The inspiration behind Muneshine’s latest 15-song offering comes from an essay of Henry Miller’s called Children of the Earth (more on that here). Given Muneshine’s production talent, it surprised me that There Is Only Today mostly features outside production. This shouldn’t be taken as a negative, though; with the likes of !llmind, M-Phazes, Freddie Joachim, and Buckwild (to name a few) on the beats, the album’s production is definitely in good hands. Even with the variety of different producers, Muneshine achieves a consistent boom-bap sound in There Is Only Today. Upon first listen, I really enjoyed this album throughout. Early favourites include “Home Sweet Home”, “There Is Only Today”, “Back To The Future” (feat. ELMNT & Kydd), “Cry Baby”, “No Days Off” (feat. Ghettosocks), and “So Long” (feat. D-Sisive). Stream the album below and purchase it here (available in digital and physical copies).
