This one is cool! About a year ago ELMNT teamed up with Boko Maru (Crimson) to create “The Mentalist Handbook Of Shadowboxing Through Universes” which combines five instrumentals from well known producers. Director Jay Montenegro made his debut by editing some of his favorite anime films to coincide with the audio. I won’t say too much because their write up basically sums everything up and this is one you have to watch and enjoy. I definitely did, I probably watched it two or three times over. Take in this thirteen minute visual for “The Mentalist Handbook Of Shadowboxing Through Universes” below and be on the lookout for ELMNT’s Stara-Nova project to drop September 22nd.
“Anime and Hip Hop have an underrated bond, I don’t know where it comes from but it is best displayed by the late Nujabes through his production on the “Samurai Champloo” TV series. That was my inspiration behind this 13 minute short film. I chopped up a few of my favorite anime flicks and edited them using “The Mentalist Handbook of Shadowboxing Through Universes” as the soundtrack. The footage was lifted from; Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Afro Samurai, Ghost in The Shell, and Cowboy Bebop respectively. ”
