[Video] Mavrik – “The Prophecy” (Ed: Mike Dusenka)

Mavrik is a 21 year old rapper from Minneapolis, MN. Mavrik began rapping at the age of 18, having been influenced by J. Cole, Nas, and Big L. Below is the first track released off his upcoming mixtape, Split Life, due to drop January 2014. What I like about “The Prophecy” is its brutal honesty; Mavrik raps about a dark time in his life with drugs and violence and wanting to change his life for the better so that he can make his parents proud, as well as himself. The track backs up his genuine promise of change with a sad yet smooth, laid-back feel. I have to give him kudos on exposing his emotions on this track; it’s definitely reflective and relatable. Mavrik is currently associated with Who Better Entertainment and has worked with DJ Capcom, Fly Henderson, and Meech.
