[Feature] Events You Don’t Want To Miss (February 2014)

As January ends and we enter the month of February, we’re faced with another question; which concert(s) should I attend? As always, we’ve got you covered for another series of great shows which are sure to be happening in a city near you. Check out our feature article on Events You Don’t Want To Miss (February 2014).

1. Pusha T
(Sunday, February 2nd @ The Danforth Music Hall, Toronto, ON)

Pusha T will be coming to Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall to perform as part of his My Name Is My Name tour. In early January, the Virginia, DC native announced a six-city Canadian tour in which he will also visit cities including Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, and Ottawa, ON. Back in October, King Push released MNIMN which saw positive reviews from our staff and also made our list for The Come Up Show’s Favourite Albums of 2013.

Why you should go: As one of the most recognized artists in today’s Hip-Hop genre, an opportunity to see him perform live shouldn’t be a hard decision to make. Pusha T has continued to stay relevant while releasing great music that we can all enjoy.

2. Down With Webster w/ Sonreal + D-Pryde “WinTour
(Friday, February 7th @ Sound Academy, Toronto, ON)

Toronto’s own Down With Webster are travelling across this native land for another season of their annual “Wintour” winter tour (bet you can’t say that three times quick). The show will feature “Everywhere We Go” artist Sonreal and D-Pryde as they help DWW rock the socks off fans across the country.

Why you should go: Do you like to party? How about having a genuinely good time? If you answered yes to these questions the better question would be why not? With the release of their fourth studio album, Party For Your Life, DWW is sure to have everyone on their feet partying with them the whole night. So, will you be there for the party of your life?

3. Justin Timberlake – The 20/20 Experience World Tour

Justin Timberlake embarks on the 20/20 Experience World Tour to celebrate the successes both albums are receiving. The tour began on October 31, 2013 and stops in Toronto on February 13, 2014. With a 32-track setlist Justin Timberlake takes you on a journey into his experience, will you be there to join him?

Why you should go: Growing up in front of most eyes on television screens across the world as well as being a member of the popular boy band N’Sync, if there is one thing Justin Timberlake knows how to do it definitely is perform! This concert will be a night full of great entertainment and unforgettable memories. Who would want to miss that!

4. The Golden Tour with Ghettosocks, Relic, Fresh Kils, Ngajuana, Notion & Cee, Whatshisface & DJ Hullewud
(Saturday, February 15th @ The APK, London, ON)

Presented by The Consignment Show, The GOLDEN Tour will feature Juno-nominated Ghettosocks along with other artists including Relic, Fresh Kills, Notion & Cee, Ngajuana, and WHATSHISFACE. The event will be taking place on February 15th at The APK in London, ON so be sure to get your tickets.

Why you should go: Not only does this event event feature a great lineup, it also supports a great cause by charging $10 for entry or $5 with a can or other Non-perishable food item.

5. Kanye West “Yeezus” Tour

After putting on a spectacle nationwide in 2013, Kanye West returns with a second round of tour dates for his “Yeezus” tour. Fans will now be able to watch Kanye glorify himself once again as he plans on resurrecting his Yeezus identity in support of his 2013 album.

Why you should go: We can tell you it’s Kanye West and that would be enough for most. But, the Yeezus shows are different from the average concert. It’s more like a show with a story from the beginning of his set to the end. This is one show worth seeing and would definitely recommend seeing.

6. Troy Ave
(Thursday, February 27th @ The Rockpile, Toronto, ON)

Brooklyn, New York’s Troy Ave has been steadily making a name for himself for quite some time now. After delivering nearly 10 mixtapes, the 28 year-old, released his first album, New York City: the Album in November of 2013 in which he collaborated with other major artists including Pusha T, N.O.R.E., Tony Yayo, Prodigy, Raekwon,and more.

Why you should go: At 28 years-old, Troy Ave is one of the most talked about rappers from New York. So far, he’s managed to collaborate on tracks with artists including Pusha T, Rick Ross, 2Chainz, and more.

7. Isaiah Rashad & Tre-Mission
(Thursday, February 27th @ Tattoo, Toronto, ON)

Chattanooga, Tennessee native and Top Dawg Entertainment’s newest signee, Isaiah Rashad has seen a lot over the last year. He has also been the forefront as one of the most talked about new rappers and it’s obvious why. Songs such as “Ronnie Drake”, “Brad Jordan”, and “R.I.P. Kevin Miller” have proven why TDE as added him to their incredible roster of emcees including SZA, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, Kendrick Lamar and ScHoolboy Q.

Why you should go: His performance at Tattoo follows the release of his latest project, “Cilvia Demo” which was released late last month. He’ll also be sharing the stage with MC/producer Tre-Mission who is said to be the next artist to make a name for himself in Toronto.
