Jimmy B
gives us a tour of his hometown in the visual for “Scarborough” off of his upcoming EP “Prince of the ‘Borough: Ch. 1 – The BRiCKZ“. Jimmy enlists Rajeevan Nithiyanathan as the director, and RGC who handled the production of the track, and aims to pay respect to the city that’s been holding him down, Scarborough, Ontario.

As his first official release since his 2013 debut LP “L.O.R.D.S.“, Jimmy B is coming back strong after a lengthy hiatus that had him performing throughout Canada alongside impressive acts such as: Ab-Soul, Flatbush ZOMBiES, Mac Miller, The Smoker’s Club Tour, and Post Malone.

The visual begins with some shots of Jimmy and his crew while the production, courtesy of RGC starts to gear up. Jimmy jumps in with a catchy chorus capturing the curiosity of listeners after getting a taste of what’s to come, before prepping for his first verse. Once the verse starts you can immediately hear the confidence in his rhymes, and he backs it up throughout the track by switching up his flow multiple times without missing a beat. The hook demonstrates his love for his hometown, which falls into place with the aerial shots of the ‘Borough that can be seen throughout the video. Jimmy’s second verse is filled with some skilled bars that leave his competition in the dust, before the track closes out with some outro vocals from Izhe Da Kid. The end of the visual shows Jimmy chilling with his crew and just messing around, something I appreciate in videos such as these, as it shows the artist having fun with it, as they should be.

“Scarborough” is a great track that actually has made my neck a little sore from all the head bobbing I’ve been doing while writing this feature, and I’m definitely a little disappointed I missed out on his performance this past week in Toronto with Post Malone among others, though you can bet I won’t be sleeping the next time Jimmy comes around (cough June 13th). With his forthcoming EP “Prince of the ‘Borough: Ch. 1 – The BRiCKZ” slated for a June 2015 release, I can’t wait to hear what Jimmy B has up his sleeve for the next little while.
