Kehlani & Mr. Carmack go “All In” in this unexpected collaboration of the same name. This track is brought to us by “Yours Truly” and “Adidas Originals” venture “Songs From Scratch” which is an original production series that aims to bring artists from different worlds together to create something previously unheard. “Songs From Scratch” is responsible for a number of unique collaborations, from Snakehips & Tory Lanez’s “Dímelo“, to Goldlink & Chet Faker’s “On You“, among many others.
Kehlani has been on fire lately, after signing to Atlantic Records in early 2015, and dropping “You Should Be Here“, which was immediately called “the year’s first great R&B album” from Billboard. The release also came in at #1 on the iTunes R&B/Soul chart, and #2 on both the Overall R&B Albums, and Current R&B Albums chart. The honest artist Kehlani, is one of musics newest forces to be reckoned with.
“I am one-hundred percent music” – Kehlani
Mr. Carmack is also a hot name in the music industry, based in Los Angeles, Mr. Carmack is a member of the “Team Supreme” collective, as well as “Soulection“, an international collective of hot off the press artists gearing to change the game. With his release of Bang Vol 3, and the Life/Death EP, Carmack has achieved the #1 spot on Bandcamp twice. On top of his accolades, he has also worked with such artists as: Diplo & the Mad Decent crew, Hodgy Beats, Pharrell, and now Kehlani, among many others.
“I’ve always let the internet inspire me” – Mr. Carmack
“All In” starts off with some ambient production that allows Kehlani to flow ever so smoothly over the beat. Kehlani’s smooth R&B vocals are ever so relaxing, and works to bring out the polished production than evokes a certain peace of mind to any listener, wherever they may be in life. The two have obviously put much work into this record, displaying their chemistry throughout the track. The last minute or so places a focus on the serene production that will lull you into a state of tranquility. The two have really outdone themselves on this one.
Personally, I love “Songs From Scratch’s” vision of bringing skilled artists from completely different worlds together to create something unique. It is ideas like that that will eventually change the game and bring out artists that may have some abstract plans for their career, though don’t think the world will respond in a positive light. Mr. Carmack, and Kehlani are the latest artists working to not only change the game, but raise the bar in all matters. Do you want to see more collabs like this? Let us know in the comments section.
