Rap super-group Black Hippy has been making waves in the music industry and we can expect them to be some of the most influential hip-hop artists of our generation. With Kendrick Lamar's recent success and foray into stardom the streets are hungry for some more great music. So it is only right if the whole team jumps on one of the hottest track out right now. Kendrick along with label-mates ScHoolBoy Q, Ab-Soul and Jay Rock deliver some top notch verses over producer Childish Major's "U.O.E.N.O." beat. The original song was Rocko featuring Future and Rozay but the Black Hippy remix definitely comes out on top. Who do you think had the best verse? Do you prefer the original or this remix? Stream the the track below and share your thoughts with us!
Rock The Bells returns for its 10 Year Anniversary with a line up that is sure to attract hip-hop fans across generations. The festival will kick off at San Manuel Amphitheater in San Bernardino, California on September 7 and 8 and make its way to Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California on September 14 and 15. The tour will continue on the east coast with new festival sites at RFK Festival Grounds in Washington D.C. on September 28 and 29, and at Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford, New Jersey on October 4 and 5.
Current superstars such as Kid Cudi, Big KRIT, Tyler the Creator and rap super-group Black Hippy will be sharing the stage with old favorites like Wu-Tang Clan, Rakim and Bone Thugs N Harmony for what will be one of the most memorable hip-hop concerts in recent history. If the big names weren't enough, we will also get a chance to see other very talented artists like Talib Kweli and Dilated Peoples who have gained much respect among the biggest names in hip-hop. Another unique feature of this concert series is that it will feature virtual performances from the Godfather of Gangster Rap, the late Eazy-E, and Ol' Dirty Bastard of the Wu-Tang Clan. This has received approval by their families of course.
Virtual performances are sure to have their share of critics but there is no doubting they will expose these artists to a new set of fans who will also have a chance to appreciate their music like we did. Who would you like to see added to line up? Do you think virtual performances are a tribute to the artist or a gimmick? Tell us what you think! If you've been checking The Come Up Show regularly, you'll know we've been posting a LOT of Ab-Soul lately, but what can I say? Dude has been making a name for himself and putting in a ton of work recently, culminating in his latest album, Control System. In an interview with Ambrosia for Heads, Ab-Soul talks about his musical influences, as well as how growing up in a record shop shaped him. Check out the interview below.
Today, Ab-Soul's latest work, Control System arrived on iTunes. Although not much promotion was put into the project, many TDE fans have been waiting for this day for a while. Over the past couple days we've heard a couple tracks off the album such as ILLuminate & Black Lip Bastard (Remix) which both feature Kendrick Lamar. Additional features on the album include fellow Black Hippy members Jay Rock & Schoolboy Q, along with other familiar names in the game such as Jhene Aiko, Danny Brown & BJ The Chicago Kid to name a few that add their verses to several tracks.
The album spans 17 songs, and for only $8.99 on iTunes in Canada, for that price I can definitely recommend it. If you’re looking for something to check out before you buy it, ILLuminate & Black Lip Bastard (Remix) are available for stream on our site.
On a side note, check out our interview with Ab-Soul below & the interview article.
