As we begin our venture into the cold months ahead, it's only appropriate that we get some new music from Canadian Winter. The hip-hop/jazz/soul foursome just dropped their latest album, The Snowball Effect, the sequel to 2011's Just Wait Till February. The album runs 12 tracks deep and features guest appearances from the likes of Bonnie Hamilton, Michael Williams, Yours Truly, T.Y., Sara London, the Snow Beach Players, and many others. You might also remember some of the songs from their Original 6 EP, including "Get The Show On The Road." In celebration of their album's release, the Hamilton group also dropped a new set of visuals for their single "Choose One," directed by Robbie J. Stream/purchase The Snowball Effect and watch the visuals to "Choose One" below.
Canadian Winter just dropped this brand new single, "Choose One", off The Snowball Effect LP. Fellow Hamiltonian Ka$hkaval handles the jazzy production on this one, as Haolin Munk provides live instrumentation, and Sara London takes part in the interspersed dialogue. As frontman Kobi Annobil describes it, "Choose One" is an "ode to (a lack of) patience in relationships." If you haven't heard of Canadian Winter before, make sure to go back and check out their Original 6 EP (and my personal favourite track, "Get The Show On The Road"). Stream and download "Choose One" below.
Hamilton group Canadian Winter just dropped their Original 6 EP, the prequel to their forthcoming LP, The Snowball Effect. For those not familiar with Canadian Winter, the group consists of DJ Johnny Fever (cuts), Kojo B. Chintoh (percussion), Kobi (vocals), and Jay Baggett (guitar). The six-track offering features plenty of diversity, from the mellow "My First Grey" and "Ooh La La, Ah Oui Oui", to the energetic "Get The Show On The Road", to the chilling "Cold War". Stream and download the Original 6 EP below. For more on the group, check out our interview with frontman Kobi.
Hamilton hip-hop group Canadian Winter (Kobi, Kojo B. Chintoh, Johnny Fever, Jay Baggett) just dropped the visuals for "Get The Show On The Road", the first single off their upcoming Original Six EP. The group looks to build momentum after a big year last year, in which they signed with Urbnet and were named the 2011 HMA Hip-Hop Recording Artists of the Year. For more on Canadian Winter, check out our interview with Kobi. Check out the visuals to "Get The Show On The Road" below, and download the track for free. Photo credit to Jamie Morren. Along with our Southside friends over at Potholes In My Blog, we're proud to premiere Canadian Winter's video for "City Lights," the first single from their excellent debut concept album Just Wait Till February, a chronicle of emcee Kobi's first impressions of Canada when arriving in the middle of -- you guessed it -- a Canadian Winter. So it's appropriate that the first visuals we get from CW, director Robert Michael, and cinematographer Robin Knowles, picture Kobi steppin' "straight off the boat" (or rather, train), and traversing the Toronto city scape with oogle eyes. He's taken by the City Lights. If you haven't grabbed CW's free EP you can do that here, or/and head over to their bandcamp to grab the full album, and/or download "City Lights" as a single here [right click + save as].
