Blair Ambrose is an emcee from South-Central Los Angeles who just released his first single "Sellin' Bricks". On this track he reflects on the similarities of being a drug dealer and a rapper. He lets us in on the the problems one faces in both fields of work and how the goals are the same at the end of the day. Blair Ambrose does a great job of telling his story and reflecting on his culture over the Corey G produced track. Stream "Sellin' Bricks" below!
Los Angeles native Corey G just dropped his debut full-length mixtape, Small Victories, a 17-track offering featuring guest appearances from the likes of Blu, TiRon, Asher Roth, Stik Figa, Jabee, and others. Premiered by PrefixMag.com, "Small Victories" is my debut full-length mixtape. The 35-minute project showcases my production work with other rising artists such as Stik Figa, Jabee, Joe Cool, Sound FX, Hardaway Smith, and others, as well as my highlights from his previous EPs and unreleased instrumentals. The mixtape was mixed, blended, and scratched by fellow Los Angeles-native DJ Val the Vandle and is presented in collaboration with the good folks at BarrelhouseBKLYN.com and WestsideStoryy.com / Follow me on twitter @iamcoreyg - Corey G
The Cafeteria Line's Corey G just dropped Mint, a 3-track instrumental EP inspired by a change in scenery. You may recognize The Cafeteria Line from their recent project HNGRY, as well as our posts on TiRon and Ayomari). Aside from making music, the Los Angeles producer is also a really dope graphic designer and web developer (check out his work here). Stream/purchase Mint below, and check out what Corey G had to say.
I created the EP after my family moved to a new neighborhood so I decided to experiment with a new sound. It's lo-fi, electronica tinged hip-hop, with heavy 808s, synthesizer solos and guitars thrown in for good measure. This project was actually completed in December of 2011 and has since been sitting on my hard drive since...so yeah. Enjoy!
