On Friday May 2, 2014 following the 40 years of Hip Hop photography exhibit, NOISEY presents 20/20 - Celebrating 40 Years of Hip Hop (The 40 Years of Hip Hop Photography Exhibit After Party). The event will feature 2 rooms with some of Toronto’s most celebrated DJ’s spinning the best in hip hop's soundtrack over the last 40 years. Hosted by Wan Luv, the Ballroom will feature DJ's, DJ Mel Boogie, DJ Mastermind and DJ X, covering the first 20 years ('74 - '94). The Melody Bar will feature DJ's, DJ Wristpect, DJ Nino Brown, and DJ Law, covering the last 20 years ('95 - present). For over two decades, Jonathan Mannion has been an essential photographer whose lens has helped to define hip-hop and pop culture. Considered as a trusted visionary and master of his craft, he has produced some of the most iconic images of those who influence the genres of music, fashion, art, sports, and film. Mannion’s aesthetic is a multidimensional imprint felt globally through his groundbreaking images that are as unique as the subjects being captured. His work can be characterized by the ability to orchestrate a moment that exposes the subject’s inner essence and he consistently communicates their stories with authenticity, respect, and enduring relevance. Since the inception of his career in 1993, his vision and reach have expanded well beyond hip hop to encompass international campaigns, fashion editorials, and his directorial vision through music videos, documentary, and film.

About Che Kothari:

Artist, photographer, director, producer, organizer, and instigator, Chetan Kothari, more affectionately known as “Che”, brings an army of energy towards anything he creates. Beginning as a portrait and events photographer in Toronto, Che has had intimate portrait sessions with the likes of Ziggy Marley, Ice Cube (NWA), Chuck D (Public Enemy), Zaki Ibrahim, Common, Cypress Hill, A Tribe Called Quest, Talib Kweli, Dead Prez, Sizzla, Afrika Bambaataa, K’naan, Erykah Badu, Nas, k-os, Shad, and several others. Che’s work as a leader, creator, and visionary is rooted in culture, opportunity, change, positivity, and love.
