Hip-Hop fans rejoice. During his performance at Power 106's annual PowerHouse concert on the weekend, Kendrick Lamar announced the release date for his upcoming album. The highly anticipated major label debut from Kendrick entitled Good Kid In a Mad City is coming October 2nd. In 2010 K-Dot was really put on the map with the release of his O(verly) D(edicated) mixtape. After hearing OD people got excited to see what else this dude from Compton had to offer. The following year he let us know just that with the release of his debut album Section.80. To date Kendrick Lamar has given us no reason to believe he isn't the next big thing in hip-hop music. His talent is undeniable and he just seems to be on another level than anyone in the game. With the albums first Dr. Dre assisted single "The Recipe" taking the internet by storm, that though of what else is coming like we had after OD is back. But one thing we do know, Kendrick Lamar has yet to disappoint. With Good Kid In a Mad City coming in October and the joint album with J. Cole (hopefully) around the corner as well, 2012 is shaping up to be Kendrick's year. Stay tuned... Update: So I guess you can scratch that October 2nd date for now... Kendrick just shot off this tweet.
Let me personally announce the album date and "CORRECT" title. Then its official.
