Befitting the weather right now, Classified just dropped the visuals to "Stay Cool", enlisting his fans to help contribute photos and videos for the track off his 2011 album Handshakes and Middle Fingers. This comes as a whopping seventh set of visuals off the album, after "That Ain't Classy", "The Day Doesn't Die", "Maybe It's Just Me", "High Maintenance", "Hangover", and "They Don't Know". Check out the visuals to "Stay Cool" below. For more on the Enfield, Nova Scotia emcee, check out our latest interview with him.
"We've seen it all before/ The young, broke artist finally getting his reward/ And the fans he first had were the hardest of hardcore/ Now they wanna say he's losing touch with the artform?"
Mic Boyd just dropped the visuals for "They Don't Know", off Classified's 2011 album Handshakes and Middle Fingers. The video features Class and Mic Boyd's verses, as they weigh in on the effects of fame and the recurring issues of race in hip-hop. Once again, I find myself playing Classified's songs on repeat. Check out the music video below. For more on Classified, check out his most recent interview with Chedo.
It's a beautiful thing when Classified is your hype man and repeating the slogan, "This is The Come Up Show. Where That Feel Good Music Lives. Real Recognize Real." This must be interview number 35092148932 and this time around Class breaks down why he chose the title Handshakes and Middle Fingers for his album. The struggle to smoke up or not, how his wife introduced him to Mary Jane and why he thought he was a one hit wonder. As always we got some superb live footage of That Ain't Classy show at the London Music Hall.
P.S. If you haven't seen the paintball competition video with Classified, Kidz In The Hall, and the whole Half-life team please do so NOW.
Here's a fun fact: Classified has been interviewed on TCUS more times than any other artist we have worked with (we now have five Class interviews in total!) So long as actions speak louder than words, which is a philosophy we tend to subscribe to 'round here, then Classy is one of our favorite artists. Understandably. We have yet to release the footage, but when Class dropped through London on 2011's Handshakes and Middle Fingers tour, we held a paintball contest where two lucky winners got the chance to turn Class into a technicolour dreamcoat.
In addition to that craziness, we decided to do something a little different with our regular concert reviews this time around-- we had one of our Toronto writers Nate Martin review Class's show at The Sound Academy, and one of our London writers Bahá El-Hajar review the subsequent show at London Music Hall. You can read their takes back to back below to see what the programming differences and effects were between city stops, and to see how and where Nate and Baha's opinions were similar and diverged (Nate and Baha were not acquainted and did not discuss their reviews until after submission). Lessons learned: Don't mess with concert energy, if you don't know what the "1's and 2's" are you're straight NOT LEGIT, "The Maritimes" are <3ved, and Class is a bona fide show boat. --Kara-Lis Coverdale Click below to read their reviews!
