Painting a picture of a past relationship, Locksmith joins up with Jarell Perry for "Imperfect"; a heart-felt song about some deep feelings he feels about a situation that happened between him and a women from the past. Directed by Amadeuz Christ, the visuals take you up close and personal as Locksmith drives her to the clinic, than going over things while in the studio as temptations try to overcome him. Take in this joint off A Thousand Cuts and be sure to grab the album! I recommend purchasing it. Locksmith is one artist with a tonne of content in his music who always speaks his mind.
You may already know; Locksmith has become one of my favorite emcee's and ever since he announced a new project time couldn't move any slower as I sit and wait for it. If you've taken in The Green Box you know him and Jarell Perry team up for a ton of amazing records. This time they teamed up for one of Jarell Perry's tracks "Dont Run From Me". Jarell Perry being an astonishing singer who helped get me back into R&B, gives a smooth spacey melody on this one as Locksmith does his thing on the verse as always, all over this bass, snare, synth heavy beat produced by Hassan that makes you want to break out into a dance almost. Locksmith and Jarell Perry are currently on tour as well; November 15th in Los Angeles at the Bootleg Bar, December 10th in New York City at Joe's Pub and December 30th in San Francisco at the Elbo Room with more future dates to be announced, I highly advise going to one of those shows if you're in the area. For now take in "Don't Run From Me" and let me know how you feel about this track, I could definitely hear this playing in the clubs and all over the radio.
Out of all the visuals that Locksmith has came out with for his project The Green Box ("Living Loaded" featuring Olamide Faison, "Transitions", "Be Free", "Fuck Love", "Bear With Me", "Stand It" featuring Anesha, "Fleming Street", "You Never Know" featuring Jarell Perry, "Everything" featuring Fallon, "Broken" featuring Jarell Perry) and now the latest gem "Much More" featuring Jarell Perry, it's hard to pin point a favorite of them all because they're all so creative and fitting for each individual track. I think Locksmith just broke a record for most music videos created for one project too. In this recent one directed by Locksmith and Brian Storm, Locksmith's inspiring words are emphasized as he stands right in front of you making it seem as if you're there with him standing glaring at the great background scenery which plays its part as well to help explain the message. I can never get enough of The Green Box, I swear at some point every day the project ends up playing when I'm listening to music, so I was excited to see another video drop today (the tenth to be exact from The Green Box) from Richmond, California lyricist Locksmith. "Broken" takes us to another level where Locksmith gets more personal with a verse that leaves you craving for more after Jarell Perry goes in on the hook! In a way I'm glad this visual came out when it did because it made me realize something out about myself today, and trust me there is a song for almost everybody on The Green Box. Take in "Broken" directed by The Young Gunz after some word's from Locksmith and be sure to go download this free project if you haven't got it yet.
This video is my personal thank you to everyone who has shown love and supported my dreams. I could not have completed this project (The Green Box) without your encouragement. For that, I am forever grateful.Download: Locksmith - The Green Box
Richmond, California artist Locksmith dropped his eighth visual off The Green Box yesterday for this classic rendition titled "You Never Know" featuring Jarell Perry. Thinking philosophically, with unquestionable truth Locksmith speaks on a subject that isn't spoken about as much as it should in hip-hop music, to never judge or put someone down based on their position, race, religion or culture. The visuals go hand in hand putting pictures to words on this well thought track produced by Matt Cody and Mike TopNoch. Let me know what you think of Locksmith's new video and check out a few previous releases from The Green Box like "Fuck Love" and "Be Free" if you like this song.
"Dance with a demon, he don't change he change you, now you naked in plain view. Reaching for a leaf to cover you transgression. Who are you to gauge another mans depression? Who are you to gauge another mans expression? Veer from fear, steer from the plan lesson."
