Killer Mike and El-P's upcoming Run The Jewels album will be titled,
RTJ2 and is slated to drop on October 28th via Mass Appeal. Today, the duo have shared further specifics regarding the project, including the official artwork and tracklist. The two have also announced North American tour dates, alongside Joey Bada$$, Despot, and Ratking respectively. The extensive 40-date tour will get underway on October 15th in College Station, TX, making stops in cities including Philadelphia, Atlanta, San Francisco, Chicago, Toronto, New York, and more before coming to end on January 10th in Auckland, New Zealand. Run The Jewels recently released their latest single, "36 Inch Chain", off their upcoming self-titled project. The group is made up of Killer Mike and El-P, who decided to team up as Run The Jewels for fun after collaborating extensively on each other's solo releases - Killer Mike's R.A.P. Music and El-P's Cancer 4 Cure - last year. Run The Jewels will be available for free download on June 26th through Fool's Gold. It's a great time to be a music fan because we are overwhelmed with so much free music, i.e. mixtapes, singles, EP's. We can agree the lines are blurred on how artists release their material, mixtapes vs. albums, but I believe we should always expect the best of the best on an album. If your favourite rapper delivers a sub-par mixtape you might let it slide and when it comes to an album it's no holds barred and why shouldn't it be? Most artists record anywhere between 20-100 songs for an album.
