Many great movies and Billboard hits have been inspired by the magic of summer. Raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, Malik
"MTown" Townsend began documenting those social situations and life lessons into recordings for
Summer's Midnight Memories. while the original tells the story of summer 2010 in its entirety
, the follow-up
Summer's Midnight Memories II offers more insight and detail by chronicling ‘a day in summer’. A lot of artist battle with feelings of being underrated and overlooked, we like to call them the underdogs. As a response to his musical idol Pharrell Williams, MTown let loose visuals for "What I Gotta Do?"...
"I tried to just get the point across that I was mad as hell, I'm not on yet. Hearing so many people telling me "you can do this, you can do that", "you'll be big one day" and things like that ALL THE TIME. I was fed up with hearing that and more ready for it to actually happen. Me taking a re-listen to Pharrell's album [In My Mind] and him saying "you can do it too" I'm like.... HOW!!!? or WHEN!!!!?"
