September 19th, 2013 was a big day in the world of Hip Hop. It marked the day that Canadian rap sensation, Drake, released his Nothing Was The Same album. "Pound Cake" was one of the tracks off this album that featured a beautiful and simplistic beat which sampled the voice of Ellie Goulding in her song "Don't Say A Word." The hip hop community must have loved the production on this song as much as I do because in the following months after the album release, artists such as Papoose,
Sikai, Meek Mill and even London's own
JR Fillion started to spit their own lyrics over top of this calming beat.
The latest rapper to remix "Pound Cake" is unsigned Elmira, New York artist Ca$h Cow. During his rendition of the song he goes through issues regarding minority and race, the American government and all of it faults and he fills us in on a little bit of his background so we can become more familiar with him. The song takes on a very conscious tone, detailing all the problems that are going on in the city and around the world. Banger alert! At the end of last year Toronto's Jimmy B dropped L.O.R.D.S (Life Only Respects Da Successful) and one of the stand out singles on it "Fuck It Yo" just got a big remix! Recruiting fellow label mate Flex The Antihero along with Harlem rapper Smoke DZA, Jimmy B turns "Fuck It Yo" into a tune that could shake the block. It being Friday, this is one you want to bump wherever you may be at tonight. If you're a smoker, you know what to do.

I've had my eye on Jonwayne for a while now. Since the Alpha Pup days, he has been putting out solid tunes, both on the mic and on boards and this latest release is no exception. As the title clearly states, the song's a Ludacris remix ("How Low") set to a church organ and Lex Luger's distinct drum sounds (that clap snare tho). As odd as this sounds, it all mixes together rather well and makes me think if this church/gospel sound will be appropriated by the new South. Let's see. Take em to church, Luda!
