"It's impossible to listen to this and not want to get up and dance. The energy is too infectious!!!" - LordQuest.
Coming back red hot after quite a long hiatus,
Chef's Plate finally hits us with another remix entitled "Poured Up". Chef's Plate consists of
Junia-T, an emcee and producer from Mississaugua, and
Lord Quest, a Toronto based artist and producer. This track works to fuse what people love about
Rihanna's "Pour It Up" with adlibs from
Kendrick Lamar's "Swimming Pools" to create a complimentary mash-up that takes advantage of both artists strengths. Rihanna's vocals are easy on the ears (as would be expected) and mesh's with the production almost as if they were made for eachother. Kendrick's verse near the end is welcomed, and fits the mash up well, with a couple glitchy additions courtesy of Chef's Plate.
Chef's Plate is an experimental project that has hip-hop artists and the realm of future bass working to become one. Junia-T debuted his latest effort "
Eye See You" last winter, while LordQuest has gained recognition through his debut "
Still Shopping", and his production credits on
Talib Kweli's "Gravitas", and
ScHoolboy Q's "Oxymoron".
What do you think about the spin Chef's Plate put on two popular tunes? It isn't easy to remix a song that's already considered to be a hit, but do they do it justice? Let us know below.
