Questlove and company are back with the latest visuals from their acclaimed album, And Then You Shoot Your Cousin. The artistic interpretation of the song's lyrics depicts a young man literally on his own in the world, hoping for better but finding happiness out of reach. The imagery supports Black Thought's lyrical content, which is always deep, and thought provoking. The Roots' new album, And Then You shoot Your Cousin, is dropping this upcoming Monday, May 19th. In preparation for the release, the legendary crew has put together a quirky video for their track "Understand, featuring long time collaborators Greg Porn and Dice Raw. No disrespect to Jimmy Fallon, but I for one am glad to see The Roots step back from the house band gig, and reclaim their proper spot, at the forefront of hip hop. Mac Miller recently performed "S.D.S." on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. He performed it alongside The Roots who are the house band for the show and definitely the best band on any late night talk show. You probably didn't catch this on TV because it is web exclusive. This was another great rendition of this song with a live band. We also featured Mac Miller performing with funk band The Internet earlier this month as well. Watch this awesome performance below!

i made the decision to go full fledge back to my "roots." dec 25th 1979 i got my very first "real" drum set (Blue Vistalites like Bonzo from Zep) then i went through a Tama phase (well...lol my parents were like "here") but all my professional career i was a Yamaha head. which bent over backwards for me. but at the end of the day I'm a "breakbeat"-based drummer and i've never gotten better "grit" than i did with Ludwig. actually on D'angelo's "yes we're still waiting" new album i played on a blue & cream vistalite just like when i was a kid. the sound was so raw i was like "i GOTTA go back."Stream and download the breakbeat below.
