HEAT! Fresh Kils and Uncle Fester (together known as The Extremities) are back at it again with another routine, this time blending Portishead's "Strangers" and "Sour Times" with O.C.'s "Time's Up" to create "Sour Times Up" -- not just a clever name-twist but a dope combination from two unexpected corners of the music world. Even better, the guys were kind enough to give us the honours of premiering it. The routine comes as the Toronto/Halifax duo prepare to embark on a U.S. tour to promote their new album, Instruments. Check out the routine below and read the mini-interview after the jump.
The brand new EP by The Extremities, Instruments featuring Ghettosocks, is now available for download and streaming! As production albums go, The Extremities have pulled out all the stops on their latest release, Instruments, a title that sees the duo piloting the studio with an eclectic range of tools and sounds. In addition to MPC's and 1200's, keys, synth and horn arrangements, Fresh Kils & Uncle Fester are joined by Droppin' Science label mate, Ghettosocks, as the project's officially featured emcee, for a tour de force. With appearances by Percee P, Reks, Relic, Megaran and more making for some incredible hip hop, The Extremities craft an EP with character and depth, offering soulful instrumental masterpieces as well, a blend that has garnered them accolades since day one.
BIG NEWS. The Extremities (separately known as Fresh Kils and Uncle Fester) are about to release a new album, Instruments, and in anticipation of its release, they've put together another fabled routine, this time blending Adele and Deltron 3030 to create "Adeltron." In lieu of another cliche introduction into their music and what this all means, allow me to set the scene by retelling my first encounter with The Extremities, and in the process, prove why you should NOT sleep on anything they're involved with. Check out the track listing and continue reading after the jump. Watch the video below.
Our friends Fresh Kils, Mad Dukez and Uncle Fester are in a bit of a jam right now and could use your help. While they were on tour in Montreal, their tour van was broken into and they lost all of their equipment: three MacBook Pros, an MPC1000, a DI Box, a K-Oscillator, headphones, cables, passports, clothes, and other personal possessions. Despite the setback, the guys want to continue their tour dates through October, but they need all the help they can get to do it. In return, they're offering a ton of merchandise and other offers to anyone willing to lend a hand. These are good dudes and it would suck to see their tour cut short, so please consider helping them out. Hit the skip to find out how.
FIYAH! The Extremities just released the remixed version of Rich Kidd's "Don't Sleep On Me", matching it alongside the original visuals. This was a personal favourite of mine off The Extremities' Re:Fresh record, so I'm definitely excited to see this one. Make sure you check out our recent interview with Uncle Fester, and while you're at it, give our interview with Fresh Kils a read too. Check out the visuals to The Extremities' remix below; you definitely don't want to sleep on this one (alright, alright, that was an obvious pun, but you get the picture).
