Tory Lanez, the Toronto based artist is back once again with the visual for his newest track "Acting Like" from his upcoming EP with the whole WeDidIt collective, straight outta LA. Tory takes advantage of his smooth take on R&B on this one, which he can perform pegs above the competition.
"Acting Like" is produced by Shlohmo, an L.A. based producer who hits the nail on the head on this one. The beat starts out with a mellow vibe followed by some interesting sounds that peak the listeners interest. This is right around the time that Tory jumps in with his smooth vocals that complete the feel of the track. The vocals and production compliment each other so well in "Acting Like", and fall right in line with the visual, directed by Zac Facts. Throughout the video, shots of a women are seen, with Tory often in scenes by himself, though deep in thought, until the two meet up in a cinematic scene. Zac Facts did a great job as director of the visual, making it seem more like a short film instead of simply a music video, truly a tremendous feat.
Tory's versatility is astounding, the way he has mastered so many styles of hip-hop is remarkable, he's come quite a long way since his start, and his progress has been proven time and time again. Shlohmo is an impressive producer as well, and it's awesome to see that Tory is one of the few hip-hop artists that are taking advantage of the skill coming out of the electronic era such as Shlohmo, Snakehips, Ryan Hemsworth, and even RL Grime. Tory is slated for an August 15th 2015 performance at Toronto's annual TIME Festival, and is sure to put on one hell of a show. His upcoming EP with the WeDidIt collective may be out by then as well, but if it's not you can probably bet that he'll play some unreleased tracks from his hometown crowd.
Back with the third visual of Rookie of the Year, following "Hear Me/Gwala" featuring Keegan Da'Niro, Toronto's own, Syph drops "Kitana" featuring Edai. These Zac Facts direcetd visuals bring you on a trip through the hood, where Syph is on top right now. Hook game, bars; Syph does his thing. I know I've been waiting on Rookie of the Year, this just makes the wait more worth while now that we have three tracks to turn up in the whip!
I've been waiting on this one for a minute! Syph has been working on his Rookie Of The Year mixtape, and I think it's safe to say we can expect it sometime soon because he just released the first visuals off the project for no only one, but two tracks titled "Pour Up" and "Gone Off That". If you haven't been able to take in Syph's music yet, he's done a few features with Sese this year that just passed, released a collaboration mixtape with Littles The General "Perfect Strangers" - which we may see a volume two for this year - as well a ton of other singles via Youtube with other NMG artists such as Keegan Da'Niro. Take in Syph's first release off Rookie Of The Year "Pour Up" and "Gone Off That" and be on the lookout for the whole thing soon!
October 31st is the day! Getting to thoroughly review this amazing album early thanks to SmashMouth Entertainment, "Stirred Echoes" was one track that stood out to me right away, and leading up to the date of Latex and Perfume Sha Prince drops a brand new music video for "Stirred Echoes" off the album directed by Zac Facts. The visuals for this track fit hand in hand, taking you first person through Sha's eyes while an investigator is hunting him down. I'm more anxious than ever for Latex and Perfume to drop and I hope everyone else is as well, so definitely go take it in once it drops October 31st on Halloween. Until then enjoy this latest composition form Sha Prince.
